This is not my coupe, I was answering if I had a build thread. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Nothing in particular, just looks like a lot of good stuff going on there, you should do***ent it with a build thread. I'm sure there are a ton of members here who would enjoy it, and it would provide some good help for someone in the future.
Thanks for the encouragement. I'll try to start it soon. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Craig Owens: Your coupe looks awesome! I cut my teeth on Aces, was ridin' the rumble seat of this '30 std roadster before I can remember . Dad got her in '46 for 100 bucks, Winfield cam an all . Over the years, I put a trans in her ( learning to drive) , recorded the rad, and learned to rebuild carbs on her. Only thing hot rod on it is the Simmons Super Power head: IMG_0420 by bowie posted May 22, 2017 at 8:54 PM . Beyond that is my '31 coupe, owned from 1970; I raised a little "H" with for a few years with. IMG_0421 by bowie posted May 22, 2017 at 8:47 PM IMG_0412 by bowie posted May 22, 2017 at 8:46 PM . With a built 283" an M21, she's got some memory's in her. Guess I kinda moved on with '32's and other "stuff" but you can never deny your roots.
I wonder if any of the ones with Model A frames are thinking of putting a deuce frame under it and selling the A ch***is? I'll be watching for a PM.
That's what I did. Bought mine as a nearly stock Model A and was gonna box and Z my original frame. I have all the welding equipment and like doing that stuff, but after a visit to Pete & Jake's, I did enough side jobs to pay for one of their 32 ch***is. I listed my original ch***is, running and rolling, complete with fenders and running boards for sale on Craig's List. Left the car together so a buyer could go for a ride, see and hear it run and do its' thing, and then soon as I got a deposit, I pulled the body off. Got $2400 for the ch***is as described, and sold the other stuff I wasn't gonna use for over $600, bringing my starting cost down to $2000.
I just got this '31. Pretty much as it's looked since the early '60s... I don't plan on changing much, but if I do I'll keep as much Model A as I can. It'll get lowered, possibly get juice brakes. In the future it may or may not get a flathead and a chop, but it won't be getting a '32 frame or rad shell.
That's not a bad plan...yours looks good the way it is. Like you said, just a little at***ude adjustment by lowering it a bit, a nice flathead, hydraulic brakes, and maybe a T-5 5 speed trans, and it'd be perfect.
