Hot Rods OBVIOUSLY A LOOSE SCREW

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Jun 6, 2017.

  1. This morning I was checking the fluids & tires getting the sedan ready for the All Deuce Run and noticed my Hamb Tag Topper is gone, the only thing I can think of is I didn't snug up the nut when I was installing it on top of the tag.

I honestly don't believe it was stolen but I would like to find a replacement,so with my hat in my hand does anyone have a extra they are willing to part with? HRP

  6. A loose screw is about as bad as the nut behind the wheel.

  7. Hey HRP, nobody ever said anything about hot rodders being sane [emoji12]

That sucks but could have been worse, we got caught in a friggin monsoon on the way to the jalopy jam up two years ago 300 mile round trip in the 31 chev coupe open engine blown small block running like crap , so stopped for fuel and a check half way found a nut missing from throttle linkage,,fixed it and nursed it to sauble beach home of brother in law , and dumped at leased a teaspoon of water out of the distributor cap cleaned it up then drive 60 miles at 6 in the morning only to discover gas stations don't open till 8 ,,,,we survived,,hope you find your tag.

  15. I used a short screw and a nylock nut but I suspect the threads of the screw didn't make contact with the plastic in the nylock and apparently just vibrated loose. HRP

The hamb topper was on the car when we stop at McDonald's Saturday on the way to the steel in motion show.

  17. Let's speculate on the person that finds it:

What if the finder is a hamber?

What if the finder has no idea about the HAMB?

  18. I can only imagine what would go through the mind of a person that is unaware of what Spreading the gospel of traditional hot rods and customs to hoodlums world wide means.

If and when it's found I hope they get on the internet and search for the hamb, they will surely find it and just might work as bait and we might reel in a new member. HRP

Nylock works well. I also put a neat little gob of epoxy around both side of the fastener, just in case someone thinks about taking it off. Just makes it a bit harder to fit a tool on.

  24. Note to self - spend a little more time on car - and less posting threads.....

  25. Whoa fellas -- Lets keep it traditional before the thread gets locked down!

  26. Yup...this is what I plan to do with both my HAMB tag and my club plaque. If I need to remove it, my zippy wheel in a die grinder makes short work of it.

  27. I have told you in the past and I will offer it once again, you obviously have a problem with me so might I again suggest you add my name to your ignore list and you will never have to endure another post from me and have to dream up witty remarks! HRP
