You can buy new wheels from a number of different vendors and paint them your self or have them powder coated.
Coker, Wheel vintique, Stockton, Paulson, and I am sure there are more make
a wheel that resembles a 40 ford style wheel. I beleive this may be what you are after.

I don't think Autozone carries them anymore since Jesse James isn't endorsing them now.

oh! i think there is a rat rod store conveniently next to walmart. the wheels are one aisle over from "rat rod" "led sled" and "street rod" badges.

  11. I didn't know "rat rods" had painted wheels, hub caps or beauty rings. Learn something new every day.

You mean Wal-Mart carries the special Jessie James edition rat rod wheels!!!!??? Damn I feel like SUCH a poser with my rust-oleum covered steelies from the South Phoenix boneyard for $25! (Yes, that was for all 4 WITH tires...granted they weren't pretty but it got the car home from a 40 mile trek at 50mph or so)

  18. Mr. Nailhead...

Our membership has decided to pull our longstanding endorsement of red wheels... they are now considered "so last week".

Just get yourself a set of Chevy truck wheels, not the rally kind (5 on 5, just like your Buick), have 'em powdercoated red, or get yourself a touch-up gun and a quart of red paint. Wheel Vintiques or Paulsen has them too, if you want new.

Speedway Motors has the wheel spiders, Moon too, if you like spending more.

If you walk out your front door and yell "I need some trim rings!", somebody will shout back where to get them... Chances are they will have some at the boneyard you got your Chevy rims at.

    Red wheels on a 60's hotrod?
    Well, I guess you can't really turn a 61 into a "50's" style hotrod.:(
How about some skinny whites & morbecs!

Just buy some old steelies (wreckin' yard) and paint em red.
Tractor supply "Ford Red" is a pretty good color.

Gloss black is where it's at daddy-O.

Most people just paint the wheels they have or find plain steel wheels at the junkyard. Trims rings and hub caps can be found at most automotive supply stores.

You can certainly buy them already painted or powder coated with trim rings and hub caps from any aftermarket wheel supplier but they tend to be outrageously expensive.

Your request is generating a lot of sarcastic replies because red painted steel wheels have become so common, people try to avoid using them. Everybody trying to emulate the look of an old hot-rod automatically paints thier wheels red and the body flat black. It's generally felt that it's gotten out of hand now that you see the color scheme on lowered S-10s and Pt cruisers.

The term "Rat Rod" is kind of contaversial in the traditional hot-rod scene.
