I need a new center hinge. The original has little metal tabs that go under the hold downs and have fatigued and broken. They were roll formed so fixing isnt really an option. -I found a hinge on Chevys of the 40s but just wanted to verify that this is the center hinge and not the 'leaf hinges' that hinge the sides of the hood. The hood has 3 hinges total but there is nothing in the part description that calls out what hinge this is. Wanted to be sure before ordering. https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detai...d_Hinge_Painted_With_Fastener_Except_COE.html Thanks for any answer.... ~JH
It looks like the center hood hinge and I do not think they had them when I needed one for my 37,I cut down one from a 41-6 to use on the 37.
Hood hinge is close in top appearance but on my 38 I literally had to filler weld every hole, smooth and start over to keep the underside from looking like swiss cheese. The repro holes in the hinge did not line up with the stock holes in my hood. Weren't close. I think I had to buy the whole enchilada tho. Hoods on these early chevys and fords are probably responsible for taking 10 years off my life due to stress !
I was worried about the holes not lining up with " Before installing, you will need to drill additional holes in flange of hood.". -Its odd they cant get the holes correct; doesnt seem like that would of been too hard to accomplish. Thanks for the info guys! ~JH
