Very early days yet and I'm fabricating the body on a model A platform prior to even having a chassis. But I'll let function follow form. . . Which is probably not the usual route that a hotrod build takes. Does anyone have any info on this black car ( above) that I stumbled on yesterday in the " Tired of homogenised hot rods" thread? Looks like it's running a 6 or straight 8. I'm building a Model A boattail and already have an assortment of Packard bits including a 39 6 cylinder and 46 grille, dash and other assorted bits in my stash. .

Best I could find was this one with early Packard grill and E&Js, and not Woodlite headlamps. Dim and useless, but looking at them in a design perspective, the best looking headlight for classic cars Here's a 1930 Packard boat tail for inspiration.
The boattail is a Holden FJ bonnet. Suits the proportions perfectly. It's a bit more rounded like the Cord and less pointed . Need to get some model a door hinges from my mate Aaron ( who keeps promising to have a look.) If he takes any longer I might revisit the dreaded pantograph door idea.
Oh this one is interesting. It's going to be several inches wider than the one I am building a probably a lot more comfortable. I've been shooting for the vintage Indy two seater look rather than classic sporty car.

Wow, nice work! I can't imagine squeezing a Packard straigt 8 into a Model A frame though. This will be interesting. Subscribed.
Still tweaking the body. Have sectioned the rear another couple of inches in the rear . Got it sitting on an A chassis but will fabricate a custom chassis several inches longer to accomodate the Packard six or Cadillac flathead. Lots of inspiration coming from classics and old race cars.
What about a 3rd seat with wind deflector similar to this local Moonlight speedster? Is that an Auburn speedster and RHD, South America?
A rainy Sunday so I couldn't resist rolling up a door skin. Hoping to push it outside this week and do a full side on mockup. Gonna remake bottom of cowl to suit a curved leading door edge.
Starting to tie the loose ends together on the tub. Cowl will be the next port of call so I can get those doors swinging.
We built this car about 5 years ago. Should have never sold it. Many of the fabrication steps are similar to your car. Good luck and have fun. Gary

I bit the bullet and edged the bonnet and will hinge it just like a normal GM hood. Glad I did. Finding a fuel tank will be interesting . I'll probably make a stainless one in the end of the tub.
