I'm putting together a 292 for my '54 Country Squire and want to add a PCV valve.
On the 239 y block that's in the car I drilled a hole in the valley cover and added a grommet and pcv valve and it worked well on that old worn out engine.

On the 292 I'm considering drilling and tapping a hole in the block behind the valley pan by the distributor and then using a screw in pcv valve.
There's a spot that's obviously made for the pcv valve and I've seen the valve there on later blocks.

    Any thoughts?

Most of the time the PCV goes on the valley pan and connects to the port on the carb or and adaptor spacer. The PCV needs to be baffled or you're likely to pick up too much oil splash. There's much more specific discusssons at yblocksforever, including which valves seem to work best.

John Mummert, in El Cajon Ca, makes an alum valley cover with the baffle and pcv grommet in it, I just bought one to put on a 312, now I'm able to get rid of the road draft tube, that is a piss poor set up.
