Wanting to put in a aluminum radiator and a new fan in my 1960 Olds and was looking for some advice on what's good for the money. Looking to spend about $250 on the radiator and fan a mediocre amount! Would like to go crazy but still also have to buy beer!! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
From what I see nothing. I was just doing it out of precaution. I'm changing out the upper and lower hoses because they look pretty old so I thought about just putting in a new radiator and fan. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Try getting it boiled out and see what the radiator shop says. I take all my old radiators to a shop 1st saves a lot of $$$$. Bruce.
Bruce but if I did go the route of buying a aluminum one(thinking from getting it from summit) which one would you choose for my car....radiator and fan? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Not to deter your choice, but the original is much better than an aluminum replacement. Have it cleaned and any leaks repaired then use it. Cost might be around $100. It also allows for repair if you're on the road and some thing starts to leak!
Thanks for the advice guys!! After a bit of beer drinking and thinking I'm going to go that route of cleaning out real good change the fluid and let it ride!! Thanks again! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Dirty Olds Sorry, I cant help you on that question. I like to keep my old cars as original as I can. I have been lucky. The small radiator shop I deal with in town has always been able to boil mine out and or repair them. Thanks Bruce.
