Well, after 7 months hard work, I finally got to drive the old girl home. Made it a whole mile from my shop to the house. Didn't even hafta walk! Thought I'd share.
Yes the first drive is always the most memorable. I remember the first drives of all my rods, those feeling of, nervousness, apprehension, relief, then sheer delight, because that first trip was hopefully the start of many more. You have a real nice Coupe there.....enjoy.
Great looking coupe. I like the two tone, stance and flathead of course. Still have the original tank?
Wonderful car! Do you have more pictures or a build thread? What were you most nervous about when your first drove it?
Thanks everyone. It started off as a bone stock 31 that someone did a very poor restoration on. The paint is a 50 footer for sure, and I'm not in love with the color, but it will do For now. I did the typical model A hotrod 101 build on it, that is, 59a motor, 37 trans, f1 brakes, reversed the spring eyes, split wish bones, etc... Still have a ways to go. Put the hood back on, fill cowl light holes, put a trunk handle on it, and other details but I couldn't resist going for a ride.
E.Z.I. Its Always a GOOD feeling isn't it? When I take mine out for a 1st test drive .I always check the rear view mirror for parts falling off. LOL .Bruce.
The first illegal test ride with my Ford was harrowing. Clutch not fully releasing, timing way off, front springs too low... but it was a big rush. I went legal a few months later after fixing a ton of things.
