What are your thoughts on flipping the front bumper on '52-'56 body styles? I've seen a few that I liked (a pic of Fatmans '56 here) but it doesn't seem to be very popular. So what do you think guys, yea or nay?

I like it and will consider it when I get there.

    Makes me go Hmmmmm.
Seems that it exposes more of the splash pan though.
I wonder if it'll work on the rear also.

I like it, gives sort of a rolled pan effect without the expense...

Yeah I saw Fatmans post a while ago also, and gave it some thought.
I like it, but if I recall it includes some fabrication on the bumper itself and also includes grille mod .
Eventough I like the mods I think the original setup is so sweet that I dont see myself changing that. Maybe if I had spare bumpers and grille...
In the end, it will be whatever suits you.

Not sorry to say I don't care for it. IMO, it's kinda tough to improve on perfection ;););)

If your going for the mild custom look I think it's great but if the car is to remain stock I believe the bumpers should also be stock. HRP

I was going to flip the bumpers yesterday and couldnt stand the look. The back one for sure was worse. I tried to put the bumper guards on and it was even worse.

Are you planning on changing the turn signals? HRP

There's something about the flipped bumper that looks odd to me. Maybe with a certain stance it might work but I can't see it. Just my opinion.

I haven't got to that point to consider it yet. Personally, I don't think it's a bad custom touch but agree it's not a 'one-size-fits-all' application.

i need to see some side by side comparisons. Should give a slight bit of clearance for steep driveways and etc. right?

I think the flipped bumper looks fine with the non stock grille that you have, the angle of the grille matches the angle of the bumper. With the stock grille the bumper should stay non flipped as the grille swoops in at the top and flairs out at the bottom and flows into the angle of the stock bumper.

When I was a kid in the late sixties I got my first 1/25 model kit of a '56 Ford. I thought the bumper was supposed to be upside down as it looks like it flows better with the leading edge on the top rather than the bottom. I've thought abou*** for my '56 Meteor Rideau Victoria but there is no way I'd ****** up a Meteor grill for the change. But then I do have two grilles....

IMG_1862.PNG Found this pic over on the customs threads. Looks like the same car, finished.
