I'm from the Monroeville area. Where to start? Guys from the Homestead area hung out at the Eat & Park on the main street and raced on the high level bridge. They always had some very quick cars. Monroeville guys hung out at Eat & Park on rte. 22 & raced on the 22 bridge between" Conleys motel" & Luzader family "22 motel". Monroeville started growing and we had to look elsewhere. There is a place called Camp Jo Ann towards New Kensington that had a long straight stretch.

My dad grew up in Pittsburgh in the '50s. He once told me about a girl who raced on Washington Blvd. who would supposedly put out if you beat her. I think it might have been BS. I'll ask him about it.

He also told me that guys used to meet at an Eat & Park on E. Ohio St. and race on the 40th St. bridge. That had three lanes; one in each direction and a "suicide lane" in the middle.

Now that you mention it, I do remember the story of the girl with the hot car. Never could confirm it.

Thanks for the replies guys ... I think perhaps this girl thing is one of those urban myth deals ... we had a similar tale in my small town ... but of course no one ever seemed to know who she was exactly ... actually this might make for an interesting new thread on here ... to see just how widespread this is ...
