I reckon that'll come in handy for when I finally beat my Engelhardt to death.

  3. seems like a real SUPREEM task.
though making it yourself would probably insure better sound quality then the shitty "cheap" one i got.

justinm, it's a K&K, works real good. It only feeds back if I crank it up real loud. I really need a pre-amp to be able to control the sound a little better. The multi colored Mexican bass strings are gone now too, I got some hybrids off e-bay, the pickup came from there too. I wish I could remember the name of the company.
Stay the hell away from Fishman pickups, they suck and they're really fragile. They won't stand up to a beating.

  12. hey Nads and Justin,

I use the K&K with a pre amp and the sound is awesome and the feedback almost non existant. I can leave my bass resting agaist my amp and walk away and nothing.

i just made a set of pickups for my bass...cost about $5 all together.
all the parts are available at radioshack.
you will need a preamp for use with this setup though.

if you're interested in learning how, shoot me a pm.

a really good site for all sorts of urb info is
    www.rockabillybass.com
there's a message board with tons of info on it. theres a forum all about pickups, preamps, mics etc.

Imade my own pick-ups from precision pickups. One per string, individualy adjustable for heigth so so dont have any hot strings.Mounted to a piece of wood you hang off the neck, surrounded by brass on the sides,Removable and doesn't screw with the Bass,I ran it through a SVT with no feed back,I could really crank it too.

  16. now the feedback that develops is directional? like if you point the front of the bass to the amp?
this may be something i'm interested in........

i ask this cause i'm all about experimenting with feedback. i have a vox violin electric bass that i can get to sound like a horn-

  17. hey,

sounds liek your running steel strings if your using a fender(?) precision bass pickup. ive used this set up as well, its really good for loud situations but i find it almost totaly kills the tonality of the bass. the warm accoustic tones that make a double bass killed on my setup - along with 99% of the clickity clickity of the strings.

after swtiching to the K&K i got similar output results (not as good but close) but wiht alot more tonal quality. plus i get all of the string noise as well. and the best bit, is being a pussy [IMG] i can use gut strings not steel. ouch.

Oh Jesus hell my fingers hurt.
We played three sets at a semi-gay bar on Saturday night, it was a blast. Mama San told our guitar player to get off the bar. I got play from a chick who rejected my adavances 13 years ago.
We got paid $120 each man, it was a great fucking night.
