Well, we were going on to the '52 F1 next after finishing a '46 Chevy truck but at a swap meet I ran across this '54 at a decent price thinking a quick flip. Didn't work out quite that way. Randy and I discussed leaving the paint alone but in the end we just couldn't do it. We blew the truck apart and had to back up quite a bit to get it to come around to something we could be happy with. Down to the frame and all new [/ATTACH] suspension, drive train and paint. A few pics of what we started with.
Floors were just patched over so new panels installed. Otherwise it was pretty solid. Boxed the frame and new front suspension and steering along with rear axle and springs
Got it all painted and we sanded it back to age it a bit. Now it's time for exhaust so on the trailer it goes. Flipped the rear bumper upside down to be able to use a filler panel between the bed and bumper. Cleans up the rear nicely and gave us a spot to fit the tailpipe exit.
Marathon sessions of work in the last two weeks but we're happy to save another one. Put 60 miles on it today and no issues. Another 100 miles or so and a bolt check makes another one in the completed column. A four week build! Ready for a new owner to enjoy for the summer. Now it's on to the F1.
^^^I totally disagree,..that truck , to me, looks so much better and now it's a solid old truck,...paint looks a lot like what's on my 55 project,...nice job guys.
"Fake patina" works well for us. Sorry you're not a fan. We prefer the look over just rust and it's never represented as original. We sell every one immediately...Somebody liked it.
Looks like a nice little flip to me! Good job....and if the patina look is selling, then build it that way.
Thanks for the positive feedback. No matter how they are finished every one represents a lot of work! It's fun saving a few old trucks here and there. We'll do it as long as we are able.
