ANyone ever heard of it? I went and picked up a new toy today downstate, Sun machine and the guy that had it was way up in his 70's and asks me why I bought and I told him about my coupe and how I like to play with engines. So he says I have to check out his car back in the pole barn. WOW his car was a very nice 34' 5 window coupe, chev power train and typical early 80's paint and suspension. It had a "Pan Draggers" Lansing plaque on it so I asked him about and he claimed to be a founding member and told me a story about how he and a couple other guys did all the work and it ended up disbanded. Well also in the pole barn is a 29' "lady" sport coupe, disassembled and a 29' Fisher built body 2 door sedan. ALso varying 32' parts and peices. I had a headache bt the time I left just trying to take all of it in. The barn has got to be 30' x 40' and you had to walk thru little trails. He says hes going to sell it all. As a nice good bye I spoted a 36' panel delivery in the blackberry patch I was pickin a couple berrys in.
Yes I've heard of them. One of the first members lived his later years in Whitehall and his 34 cpe was used by Motor City Flatheads as a test car for new development. I don't remember which mag it was but one of them a few years ago did an article on the Pan Draggers with some old pics included
My father has a lot of original pandraggers stuff, including a jacket and scrap books. I will see what I can do to get the info up here. I've been having some issues with my computer so it may be a while.
The old guys name is Gordie Maurer. I am kinda interested because he has either lived a real interesting life or has a hell of line of BS.
Mike, how come you didn't stop and pick me up? I'd have loved to go and bore the snot out of you for a few hours. Now, if you find you don't have room for the distributer machine I'll clean out a corner in the shop and I'll "store" it for you. I had one for a few years and they are neat to play around with advance curves in the old distributers. Frank
Yes, my dad and Gordie were good friends and he was a founding member as well. I stumbled onto this site looking for a picture of my dad's 32 Ford Coupe, chopped and channeled. I did a Google search on Pan Draggers Lansing and this came up. The club had a few members. Godon Klotz, Gary Knight, Gordie Mauer, my dad Kermit Jensen. I think most went to Lansing High School. Some may have gone to Okemus. I tried to steal my dad's jacket but he won't let it out of his sight. I have a copy of Hot Rod Magazine and I'll see if I can't dig it up.
My father was a member also, Chuck Baxter, I have his pan draggers plate on the front of my 1937 chevrolet, my dad went to a reunion they had years ago in lansing, he had a roadster with a flathead, sure would like to track it down Sent from my SM-G900V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
