    Hi guy's, I was given a ford 5.0 from a friend. I was converted back to carburetor with Edelbrock intake and carb. He & I don't know how to tell what year it is. Here is what I do know:
    Block is a F1SE with an E-3 below
    Crank is E7AE-AA
    Heads are E7TE
    Pistons are 3452-C
    I have not pulled the cam but I see the letters ZEZE on the cam by the dist. gear when I look from bottom.
    If any of you what I've got,I would appreciate your help.
    Also just what are the differences from a 93 to a 94? Most of the torque specs are different...
    Hope to hear back, thanks for looking...

    Well it's got a 1991 engineering number for the block. F1SE

    C = 60's
    D = 70's
    E = 80's
    F = 90's + 1 = 91 engineering number

    What does that mean exactly? Not much other than the block was reengineereed or updated in 1991 so the engine is out of something from 1991 to end of production ('98 Explorer was the last vehicle to get the 5.0). No clue what E-3 means. But F1 means '91.

    Crank and heads were unchanged parts since 1987. '93 and '94 were change over years to torque to yeild bolts on the cylinder heads. They're good for one use, then you get new ones. Which values are different? All of them?

    It's most likely a roller cam engine. Have never heard of ZEZE numbers before.

    Im pretty sure the difference in power numbers comes from the changes in the intake and exhaust that were made when switching body styles (Fox to SN-95).

    I have a '94 Cobra... LOVE it. Such a fun machine.

    I believe the 93 and 94 block were the same. The main difference would be the intake due to the new body style in 1994. The E3 is the casting date, which I believe is May 1993.

    Hi Guy's
    Just got back from vacation. Thanks for your responses. I was able to pull the cam out today and now I'm even more confused.
    On the rear of the cam the numbers are 03 58 and below that is 05/17/94 which I'm pretty sure is the date of manufacture. Now I'm safe to ***ume it's a 94 block but now how do I find what cam I have in it by those numbers. I ***ume it's a stock roller cam but there are some thoughts it may be an aftermarket.
    Oh yeah, it does have the letters ZEZE on the distributer gear .
    Hope someone knows what I have or how to find it out.
    Thanks
