Actually, how about Half Moon Bay? They do that car show there already.

  2. OK guys...

This is what we need!! Anything that anybody can scrounge up within a reasonable distance that's NOT Sears Point or Sacramento Raceway would be great.

I am going to have to ask the guy I'm trying to help out chime in... He was saying it'd be good to have a get together/cruise in and go racing all day or whatever... bracket racing. If we can set up a west coast version of DOTD or the HAMB drags and make it fun, that's what we should do. ANYTHING that can be done to help would be whats necessary. I know KIRK! Would be the perfect person to have help because of his experience but really... all of us need to do this to make it work. Car shows are one thing... flogging your cars out there is another.

I have a 59 Impala coupe with a 3x2 348 just itching to boil the hides...

    Travis,
There is also Marina airstrip just outside of Salinas. They do host a great auto swapmeet. Don't think the strip is still in use.
You might try and get ahold of the Deadend boys, Juan or Jesus, and see if they can get any contact info.

  8. Can I ask why Sacramnento is out? I know they used to rent the track for "club days"... when you look at their calendar... they have it booked up. But a lot of times, like on a "Ford day"... they give the Fords a special lane or two, or three to run. Bottom line, the more the merrier.

Our Very own derelict brought his '32 out when we ran the digger one time... and ran the wheels off it! Low 13's... high 12's... 100+mph...

As for safety... guys should be building their cars with safety in mind anyway... the "basics" are not hard to have. For instance, Travis... your '59 would p*** tech with all its lug nuts, a catch can, seat belts and a neutral safety switch.

Half moon bay is out. they tried noise test's a few years ago and it was too loud for the surrounding peeps. I have a buddy who has a video of the trials and it was only launches and a little run then shut off. kina gay. but still too loud.

When I was looking for a venue for my show (The Carnival)I do at the Roseville Fair Grounds .I started out wanting to have Drag racing with the stunt show/Car show and bands. I tryed dealing with the people at Sac Raceway. They were a pain in the *** to deal with. To many rules (not just Tech stuff) but no live music and the extra insurance was crazy. They were hard to get a hold of .Than one person would say one thing and anouther would say something totaly differnt. So I just decided to do a show with out Drag Racing. But If there was a good enough place to move it all I would think about it. Or maybe help promote it . Scott

Hope to see this happen! Be an excuse to visit relatives in Willows. One of the stops I want to hit in my caddy one of these days.
