the photo is kind of small, dark and grainy, so it's hard to tell if there was originally a different decal on it...???? Look close. My guess is someone put that cool on it relatively recently.

The photo was taken on my phone, will try and get a better one in a bit. Decal looks fairly original.

    A bit, thanks.

Hard to say...maybe a UK company had them built left-handed, and imported them? or had the rights to make them there?

(it does seem to be for the left side of the car, opposite of the US models)

It fits on the right side of the car, don't think they were ever made in the uk, our weather generally isn't hot enough!

then it's probably not a Thermador, since the filler is at the wrong end...???

This is where I wonder if it is a Thermador, or something else. It looks very similar to one, unless it's been taken apart and put back together the wrong way? Either way, swamp coolers in general are hard to find over here. Thermador or not, I love it. Lol.

If you want us to help you figure it out, find good pictures of Thermadors, and take good pictures of yours from exactly the same angle, the post them both...or just look at your cooler from the same angle that you find in pictures of thermodors, and see if they look the same, or different.

I gotta agree with Jim. I've seen that same decal on everything from refrigerators to compressors. It was added on somewhere along the way.......sorry. It is kinda appropriate though.:D

We had one when I was a kid. I don't remember if it worked well or not. Do they work well in 100F heat?

I have one I bought it has been kinda restored by the PO. It will not fit a VW Beetle so I may be up for a trade if interested.

Dake, your "Lindy" Swamp cooler will fit a VW. It was also made by the Thermadore Electric Co. California, they made them for lots of others to sell under their names back in the day. Dake you just need the proper mounting brackets.

The upper brackets are the problem. It's made for a door with a thin edge. I was looking for instructions when I found this thread. So different brackets is what I need I was thinking of just making some but the correct ones or a picture would help. I thought I need one with the prop rod. I really don't want to mess up my paint.
