Hey there, i just picked up a 53 Cadillac and first things first, suspension! what are my options to get this thing on the floor? I have 51 Buick that i used dropped spindles and bags, but i have had no luck finding drop spindles for my Cadi. I know back in the day a simple snip of the spring was all it took, but i know how quick ply tires get eaten up due to unwanted camber. any help is appreciated. Thanks... i just want to get this car road worthy.
lots of options.. like RoadDevil13 said.. bag that shit, it all depends on your budget. You can 4 link it which is a little more.. 2 link, you can buy pre-made brackets and bars or make them, i'm making all my shit. valves, tank and a compressor, im using a late model ford engine driven compressor for fast filling as i'm using fast valves. if you want to lay frame you could always monster notch that sucker
I couldn't find any drop spindles for Cads when I dropped my 55. ShockWave and about 1 hour the front was down. I put air over leaf in thr rear and it worked great, but it still was too high so I put 3" blocks on and now I am getting axle wrap. I am planning a triangle 4 bar this spring.
thanks. i will be bagging it. i plan on doing it all myself, if i buy a kit or whatever, but it will be bagged. hoboy56: what is keeping your 55 from geting that front bumper and rear bumper on the ground? i read you got shockwaves (i have those on one of my cars, i like them.) but what needs to be modified to get the frame on the floor? the rear is pretty much simple, 4 or 2 link and some notch on the frame. thanks.
I still have the bump stop on the front, and on the rear I took off the stops on the axle and pinion snubber, so it still has about 3-4" of clearance so I can move around at the shows. pm me if you need anything.
Way nice Cad ,man.I dread the chrome bill for mine. many people have suggested painting it but they just don't get it.
