Word on the street is that you kats run a tight ship here, and I respect that. I've been on plenty of vintage bike forums that devolved into foodfights when run otherwise. I am charmed with a semi-rustfree '60 Ford Courier two-door wagon, which I aim to make into a hiboy g***er. I envision some period-correct pieces to the mid-sixties, but I'm not a purist and that high-school shop cl*** hood scoop from '2 Lane Blacktop' has caught my eye. Drivetrain is undecided, but an 80's 5.0 dressed-out as a 289 is on the short list and I am in the concept phase of using original bias-ply rubber. Since it's neither rod nor custom, am I H.A.M.B. material?
You need to study more. There are g***er threads about real g***ers you might find educational. My gut tells me you want to build the current jacked up fad thing that is called 'g***er.' They are not, but anyway...
That is not g***er material in any way, shape, or form. But there are a lot of people here who will swoon over it, so you will probably fit right in.
Welcome to the HAMB, looks like a nice solid car to start with. I can see it the other way, slammed, and used as a daily driver. Bob
Lots of people that like wagons here, lots like g***ers, probably should pick one. In that yard was a lot of cars that would be a better g***er. Some would be sought after that I see.
The first step would be to tell us just who you are..where you live and **** like that...You are not supposed to introduce your car,BUY YOURSELF
Thanks Guys! Technically, as a Courier, it’s a Sedan Delivery, not a Wagon. You heard me. In ‘59 & ‘60 Ford Deliveries had gl***. That alone grandfathers me into G***er territory. With no power options, spartan interiors and low resale, Sedan Deliveries were part of the G***er scene from the getgo. The ‘jacked-up’ fad I’m going for was popular from ‘55 to ‘70 and I’ll wager my Delivery weighs less than the B/Gas Galaxie sporting that look in this old-timey foto. That’s not my boneyard in the background, It’s dood I bought it from, and he’s just as colorful as his collection. I’m 58, live in East Troy, WI and am a former cl***-winning motorcycle roadracer on a bike I built from scratch. I own a couple of other cool cars made after 2000 and about twenty old Kawasaki’s, but will remain silent on them around these parts. The other foto is of my first Tri-Five which I got when I was 15. In my formative years, I had three of them and a like amount of ‘64 Galaxies, then came the Mustangs...Like twenty of them. I haven’t owned an old American car in thirty years as I was detoured by motorcycles and Japanese cars. In my three-year search for the Courier I wanted to replicate the time before the BBC and Mustang, but it was best summed up by dood selling a ‘62 Catalina, who called it ‘pre-GTO performance.’ Before the Goat, Stang & Rat, life-size cars were staples in the lower Gas cl***es. If you think all G***ers were Willys' & 55 Chevies, you need to look past the covers of those old Hot Rod Magazines at the race results.
