Hi everyone. My name is Chris...those close to me call me Toots. I'm from NY and am the 3rd owner of my 55, had it now for 11-12 years...most of it was in storage. Before that, I was told it spent about 30years in storage. It's a nice car but does need work (floors/quarter, wiring, refresh, etc). It came with a 390FE, 4spd & 9" rear. The previous owner used to drag race it someplace in New England when he was in the service (60-70's i'm guessing). He won a couple times per the side window stickers. Last summer my boys and I tore it apart and began working on the frame. We repaired some seized bolts and cleaned/painted it. Front/Rear suspension has been redone and I put Granada discs up front. I will be tearing into the 9" in the coming weeks.

    The day I bought it.

Any other 55 Customline owners...I'd love to make contact with you!

    That's all for now...

Welcome Toots. Looks like you are doing it right. a 390,4 speed and a 9 inch gives you a head start. Make it safe and drive it!

Welcome to the H.A.M.B.! I've got two, a 55' customline and a 56' mainline. Both of them will be mild kustoms. My blue 56' is in the process of installing a fresh 292 .030 over back by a close ratio toploader 4 speed and my white 55' is an all stock 272 3 speed car waiting on a toploader, static drop and some other vintage speed equipment. Forever projects, but damn I love these things. Tons of knowledge here on the H.A.M.B.! [IMG][IMG]

Also; hell yeah with the head start on the FE.. some of the best motors out of the blue plants were stamped with FE approval. There's a lot of good info out there on them. Do yourself a favor and google search the Scairlane ford gasser... baddest of them all!

Thanks guys! Made some more progress...rebuilt the ford 9", left it open with 3.00:1 gears but upgraded the drums to 11x2 kit from Johns Enterprises (uses F150 parts). Went to the junkyard and got some 15x7 wheels and some junk tires so it rolls. Cleaned up the bellhousing and 3spd top loader for a future job. The 4spd top loader is a 64-65 model with 25spline output, and will need to be rebuilt for a 390FE before use. Because of the cost associated with the rebuild, I'm going to put the original 3spd in it (freshened up) and put $$ into fixing rusty floors. I'll save the 4spd for later. Will be installing the rear next weekend when the hardware arrives.
