Technical genius to bystander who asked "Is that a 4 stroke?" - answered "If it has 4 cylinders, it is a 4 stroke, if it has 6 it is a 6 stroke, etc..."

 

Is that really a Nailhead or are those fake valve covers?

 

I was talking to some guy about a 60's mustang, and he said something about changing the struts on a similar mustang....lets just say he took acceptation that I corrected him by saying they were shocks on the early mustangs

 

A guy trying to impress the Bimbo he was with was showing her my
Cad (see my Avatar) and tells her that it has been chopped, and then asks me how much did you chop it? I said "just enough so that you can't tell it", he says to her, "see I told ya'"...she says HUH?

Why do you want to have your truck that low? you can't take it huntin up in the woods that way.
I don't mind the "when you gonna paint it" the answer is always the same "when the body is as close to perfect as I can get it". Gives me a lot of leeway.
Now as it sits it would probably get me in a fight when someone called it a rat rod but it used to piss me off every year at one event when the same grease encrusted bottom feeder would slither by and point out all of it's faults to what ever companion he had with him that year. I finally figured out that was his thing, going around and nitpicking the other guys cars even though it was all too obvious he didn't have one in the event.
We used to kid one of the guys I was in a club in Waco with about his cute little "June Buggy" after some bohemian farm wife gushed about the cute little Junebuggy when she saw his bright yellow 23 T with a tunnel ram big block Chevy in it. He couldn't get upset at her because she was so tickled about seeing the car.

I remember in the 70's when young kids would run up to rods at events in Texas and holler out "this one is faster it has 140 on the speedometer" and now kids just want to know how much it costs or is worth.

 

Nine times out of ten some goofball will look at my F-100 and say " is this a Chevrolet?" To which I say no and then the apologies start flying.

Just last night, guy with a brand new chev pickup says any hot rod in the lot wouldn't stand a chance against his truck.......some pretty friggin fast cars there. Pretty big boast.....

 

The answer to that is always a fun one! "Stock 283, Wanna race?" [emoji6]

Had a guy telling anyone that would listen that he owned my car.
He didn,t look too happy when I opened the door and climbed in.

 

When they ask me I tell them it's a 383... They say, "Mopar?"

 

Then I get the "Woody Wood Peckers" who don't believe it's a glass car and walk around it and peck on it with their ring to see if I'm lying.

 

Be glad a young lady even spoke to you.

 

I used to hear the "dune buggy" and "rat rod" comments about my T Bucket and it would get me into asshole mode with the person. Finally, I started to see what kind of person it was. To the people who's only exposure to old cars is the crap that's on TV, I'd try to correct them. They just don't know any better. Now, if it was a "show off" or a "know it all", the asshole lever would go full tilt. They deserve what comes next.

One day, back when I was running a Model A grill shell, a car full of guys pull up. The driver asked, "Is that a Deuce?". My response, "Why.... yes. Yes it is." The light change kept them from seeing me laugh my ass off. Sometimes, the clueless need to be left in their cloud of ignorance.

 

we had 4th of July at our house this year with the wife's family, and we got to talking about my 47 Ford coupe. After repeatedly explaining that it wasn't a truck, and a coupe I was meet with "oh a coop, one of those funny little cars?" (I think that he was thinking coop, as in mini-cooper) You walked past it when after you parked your car....how does it look like a truck or a mini-cooper???!!!!!

 

"where'd ya buy it" or "did ya buy it" or "where d'ya get it from" ......same answer to all (in a pissed off voice) I built it!

 

I have a few of them to share.

The custom plate on my vette convertible reads "NOOO TOP". A guy was looking at it scratching his head says to me, I don't get it NOOO TOP.

I said to him, it's my wife's car she's a topless dancer.
