Got new 59L motor fired up in the coupe this afternoon. Adjusted a bit on carbs, and it's idling ok, but we are hearing a fairly loud roar from p***enger side of motor. I'll try to load a video when I get home to PC. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Got an update... we listened all over motor and also took all floor panels out, and listened to thrust rods, trans case, etc... turns out, we put a new aluminum McLeod flywheel in, and it's about .100 thicker than the cutdown steel flywheel we were running. It was pushing the auburn clutch rearward into the clutch fork, and causing the growl. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Well, that wasn't it. shimmed trans back 1/8" and motor is still making bad growl noise Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Pulled shims, and dropped pan... checked all mains, and they have nice wear pattern Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Gonna plastigage them tomorrow... may be too loose, and causing the noise... it's starting to knock more now Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Pulling heads off, to remove pistons and rods. Found one rod in backwards, and seems like rods were out in without being resized Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Found smoking gun. Some pistons were making light contact with head on one side. Gonna mill squish area deeper Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
