What is the purpose of this spacer? Will it work as an adapter???
    Thanks

    What stumpy said,
I removed mine from my 1956 354 in order to run another transmission, I ordered a Wilcap adapter kit.

There are not unique to "Hemi" engines......also used on Poly engines and, I think, a similar piece on 6 cylinder engines. So far as I know, anything that used the fully automatic transmissions, i.e. Powerflite and Torqueflite until the block pattern changed about 1962.
