On similar thread a few months ago I had an idea that I shared with ****** and I had an occasion to try it out recently on a friends car.

I used the 12 volt amplifier output on the back of the car stereo to toggle a relay that interrupted power to the starter. Now he has to turn on the radio before hitting the ignition or the car wont start. And it is "invisible" to the untrained eye, unlike some kill switches that people can figure out easily watching you start your car a few times.

I think the electric antenna output would work as well if your stereo is so equipped.

Most who wish to take a car will have a length of wire to go straight to the coil from the battery or starter and a screwdriver across the starter terminals, OR a roll back truck with a good winch. not much will stop them.
I wish the OP got back to us with what his parking situation was so we could be more helpfull to his particular issue. JW

The "anti-theft" on my '31 is a simple shutoff valve at the tank. They'll only get one fuel bowl's worth away.....

For gasoline thieves I always dreamed of taping those narrow single edge razor blades all around the under edge of the gas cap. Fun to contemplate.

Reminds me of a news story I heard many years ago. Seems a girl was walking down the street when her purse got ******ed. She always walked holding the 38 special inside her purse. She took aim at the thug and unloaded the gun killing him on the spot. She was charged with murder. When the judge asked during her trial why she shot the guy 6 times her answer was, "Because that all the bullets my gun holds." Judge congratulated her an set her free.

I think people who steal cars sometimes look for large car shows with hundreds of cars that we be in the area for 2 to 6 days.
I know the Shades of the Past cars show have seen many cars over stolen over the years.

In some cases they took the truck towing the enclosed trailer with the car in it!

Here in Florida there are many guys who had their cars stolen when they ran over to HomeDepot for 45 minutes.

I use to have one of those steering wheel clubs you would lock on but heard the thieves would just saw the steering wheel apart and take it off. Sure enough some one broke into my Yugo, sawed apart the wheel and stole my club.

Seriously though I have a boot that locks on the tire (just like you get when you park in the wrong place) and it works well. Bought it at a trailer supply, they said it's the best protection for a trailer but I've used it on cars as well. Takes up a little room in the trunk but other then that easy to take anywhere. Does a good job of keeping them from rolling it away or up on a slider.
Don't know where you live but around here you can get in trouble with the law and probably sued if a thief gets hurt in the process of ripping you off so no ****y traps. Heck, we can't even put razor wire on our fences anymore, too many thieves were getting hurt on it going over fences. Shoot someone you better have iron clad evidence to prove you were in fear for your life, just shooting someone to protect your property will land you in jail.
And they wonder why crime is out of control.

Metalman is correct. The trouble starts when the dirt nap begins.
Don't just "Wing em". That's a whole nother can of worms.
    Learn the laws.
Locks, surveillance systems, ****ty paint. So sad, people will steal your nice stuff and you're just out.

  11. LOL they have a stand your ground law here. Lately I have heard that you have to be in fear for your life to apply the stand your ground law, which in my way of thinking is kind of an oxy-*****. But I am not a legal ****yst. :D

These types of threads always bring out the best in us. Don't they. :D

The guys around here you have to worry about are the professionals. They don't bother hot wiring, they just hook up and fly with it. The guys that are stealing them by driving off are stealing Toyota Camries.

The "Castle" law in Kentucky applies to car jacking. OK to shoot em. With all the folks that are now packing, car jackers are looking for it. I've read more and more instances of car jackers shot grave yard dead.

  14. The down side to concealed carry is that any crook that is serious isn't sure that you are not strapped and is coming in hot. I would like to see more open carry laws just for that reason.

I have owned as few cars and bikes in my time. I have yet to own one worth either killing or dyeing over.

Again, I said I dream about that trick, haven't done it yet. At my age, I really don't give a flying leap, take me to jail! 3 squares, a cot, lifting weights, watch Oprah all day. Actually sounds pretty good. Also I live in Bakersfield. We are famous for our sheriff dept.; thugs come up from LA to rob a bank or some other mayhem. Pretty much 100% of the time they are dead before then make it back over the G****vine. I figure I stand a pretty good chance of getting a reward in lieu of punishment.

True story, a fellow car friend/old geezer has a '60 impala that he has to park on the street (because his shop is full with his 32 coupe and Willys g***er) anyways, he had to have colon surgery and while he was in the hospital, his neighbor who luckily knew Spanish heard some Mexicans standing by the car say in Spanish that they could haul it [emoji15][emoji15] luckily he told the guys wife and some friends came and drove it to one of their houses. So yeah, best thing to do is to get it where no one can see it..

Many say shoot to kill , remember no matter how bad this person is or you want to until you live with the thoughts that " I killed a human being " for the rest of your life , it all sounds good . Don't get me wrong , I have no use for a thieving ******* . But killing him maybe worse on you . I have Ford Power in my junk , and a kick start , oil leaking Harley . I remove the rotor from the Ford , and who in hell wants a kick start oil leaking Harley !

I live in the country outside a small town of 300 people, I have to drive 30 miles in any direction to get to any form of civilization. I don't Lock anything, in fact I leave the keys in all my vehicles and get mad at my wife or anyone else for taking them out. I don't even have a key to get into my own house, I don't think it's been locked since it was built in 1938. I can't even imagine having to worry about someone stealing something like a car from me. I guess I suggest living in a rural area for the best anti-theft

Roll backs are what I worry about. Most dirt bags these days don't know how to start and or drive anything with a foot starter and a manual transmission. Funny story- I took my 51 Willys Jeep to get it's annual safety inspection. The 20 something kid that came out to inspect it couldn't start it (foot starter). After I showed him how to start it he drove down the driveway and got stuck because couldn't shift from 1st to 2nd. First isn't synchronized and so after he missed 2nd it would grind when he tried to go back to first. I finally told him thanks and when somewhere else.

  24. A buddy has a '63 SS 4spd car. Not showy, a nice driver that he parks in his driveway in the middle of 'suburbia', where he lives. A while back he called & asked me to bring one of my trucks & a tow strap over. Thieves had popped a door lock, knocked his Muncie out of gear & proceeded to roll & steer (non-locking column) the '63 down Jerry's drive way, with kill switch under back seat bottom and all. What stopped the thieves was a culvert at the end of the driveway. They cut it too sharp and the old SS rolled over the asphalt edge & got it hung up on rear axle & gas tank. I tugged him back up on driveway after the police were done. Some exhaust work and a new gas tank fixed the '63 back up. Since the car wasn't really 'stolen' the police weren't interested in doing any kind of follow-up......understandable I suppose - but feelings were hurt and and good ol' car was ***aulted!!

Been there done that. Grew up in Fountain Springs CA which got its name as an old ****erfield Stage stop. Nearest neighbor was 1/4 mi away. We never locked anything. Fast forward to the mid 70s, we built a home in the foothills outside Bakersfield CA on a 20 acre piece of land in the buckeye/oak forest. There were probably 20 houses spotted around those hills, dirt roads, long dirt driveways to the homes. You would think it was as you describe, exempt from the thuggaries of civilization. We did lock our doors but where we were it didn't make any difference. One of our neighbors came home after work and found their entire 2500sqft home was empty. Someone had evidently gone in with a couple semi trucks and literally took everything but the kitchen sink in broad daylight. You are getting away with it for now but no way are you exempt from society.

  27. I think that a lot of it has to do with location. In the mid west once you get away from the city things change a bit. Country folk are real backward to what most people think is normal. That said, even the small town USA is not exempt from habitual drug use, and if it is not nailed down and can be hocked it may fall prey to those who have a habit to support.

Cars are not easy to hock fortunately. LOL

Where would one acquire such a cover? I'd use that for my T and another O/T car I have outside.

Cabelas, Amazon, Sportsmans Guide are a few places usually listed under Camo Mesh Netting or Military Netting. Joe
