Technical drag link tube size 1'' or 7/8''

need to make a new drag link
should I go from 7/8 to 1''

is there any point?

7/8 22.2mm - wall 3.25 x 2 = 6.5
22.2 - 6.5 = 15.7mm
drill size for 11/16 - 18tpi tap = 5/8 = 15.875

or
1'' 25.4 with 4.88mm wall
x2 = 9.76
25.4 - 9.76 = 15.64mm

do I need taper, plug and bottoming taps left and right?

 

i use 7/8" od DOM .188 wall tubing and drill it out 5/8" on my lathe deep as possible, then run the 11/16-18 tap as deep as i can

is that 30-1/2 just the tube , or center to center on the tie rod ends?
