You don't see Hot Rods kustomized... this is a kool one.

Grill shell is made from a 55 Plymouth grill.

I can fairly easily imagine kustom changes to a stock anything from 1936-to-1956 and most people would say "that's kool". But to imagine a hot rod doubling as a kustom is beyond my ability.

Russ and Summer of Egleston Kustoms HAVE that ability. They stitched this car together from parts and pieces that you have to see to believe. Not only is the top of the grill the center of a 55 Plymouth, the uprights of the grill are the left and right ends of the same 55 Plymouth. My favorite is the all metal headliner .... made from a Ford Pick up hood, the one with ribs in it, like a '57 or '58. Or the tail light opening, made from the "nostrils" of a '60 Chevy Pick up hood, turned upside down.

Makes me wish, just a little bit, that all the hot rods at KKOA Salina, had a bit more kustom flair.

I thought it was the hands down winner of the "777" award. So many kustom touches that you have to see in person to believe. Work of art that will be turned into a daily driver, how kool is that....... Now I need to find a '55 Plymouth grill...

That would be awesome Mick! However, I'm being honest here..... would the thing crack and fall apart with "real" driving like we do now? I mean, weren't some of the "early" Kustoms hacked together to look good, but not necessarily last?
Maybe I'm just stereotyping from some of them that I've seen pics of during the restoration process. Just wondering what the experts here think about it. ;)

You have to realize that most customs in the 50`s were driven to car shows. Or flat towed. Trailers were a rare thing to have. In the 80`s a guy here in town owned a trailer, made a killin renting it out because no one owned one. Mainly for transporting non running vehicles.

Jimmy you forgot one thing. The road rash and abuse wouldn't be a problem, "I know Jeff Myers"

You mean that guy?!? LoL! IMG_0879.JPG

But what I was meaning was one of the "original" builds, not a new build done today by some of these guys like Jeff.

But either way, it'd be AWESOME to drive that thing all Over the country!
