When I was a kid real magnesium wheels were really made out of unobtainium and I don't believe I ever actually saw a set in new condition ever. So, what was did the finish look like on new American Racing magnesium 5 spokes? Anyone have pictures and/or descriptions? Was paint used or some other protectorate? I've read a lot of the threads on here about cleaning them but haven't seen any results....just talk mostly. I have a few pairs that I will be "restoring" so to speak. What should they look like at a minimum?
Are you sure that they are you sure that they are Magnesium or Aluminum? American Magnesium looked like Alum and Halibrand had a greenish tint to them
American five spokes were as cast on the spokes, no paint. The rim portion was machine finished and sanded to about a 150 grit. No polish.
