August 11 and 12 the TRI 5 Nationals are in Bowling Green KY at the Beech Bend Drag Strip. Anyone going? Great show, great nostalgia drag racing, great venue. For me in a no miss event.

  6. Saw a group of five tri-fives g***ing-up in Nitro, WV yesterday and a couple hours later saw a green 150 sedan getting gas in Teays Valley, WV. Looks to be a big turnout!

Sometimes the planets line up. My eldest child received her bachelor's degree this weekend. And just happened to move to Bowling Green, KY this year! Just touched down in Baltimore this morning. Father in law and I escaped on Saturday to attend the nat's. Lots of racing. next year, somehow, I'm taking the Chevy. And I'm gonna beat on it. Told the F.I.L. we have seen the promised land! No ****, there was a dude walking around with a full back tattoo: Tri Five Nationals. Pic of the Woody's car. ********... Yes sir, South Bend Raceway is in a valley, cell phone killed itself looking for a signal. Stupid import rental car won't charge a phone w engine off. No excuse for the ****py pics but I'm a tech knuckle dragger. A few more. The white 57 in the post above was an 11 second car and launched nice! Seaweed flames on this '55 were to die for. Hmm, only took 3 pics of IMG_20170812_131524918_HDR.jpg non '57s. In previous post.
    I'm a little obsessed with the 'sevens.. IMG_20170812_125922337_HDR.jpg IMG_20170812_125057096.jpg IMG_20170812_125038336.jpg

I didn't get the wife's 57 Nomad done in time for her to drive it, but we were already registered and went anyway. It was a good event and the wife says I better have it ready for next year. I only needed a couple of weeks more and it would have been done. Did pick up some parts for it though.

What I found was that the top 25 cars were mostly big wheeled. Although there were 2 g***ers in the top 25. The top 5 cars all had big wheels. Out of all the nice G***ers, the Best G***er award went to an altered wheel base car.

We had a good time and already signed up for next year.

    Worthy of note -
'57 Chevys dump fuel out of the filler neck if your car turns 13 second or better 1/4 mile times. Watched it over and over at the drags.
Primered 2 doors are now 20K cars(!)
Add 10k to that for a paint job.
    Damn, were're all getting old.

Rusty - Yes. There were about 6 other brand cars there all in a group by the upper fence by themselves. Had ''Vendor'' placards in the window. A crown Vic and some streetrods.
Several tri 5 Corvettes and one school bus (really!) were in attendance.
