Can someone recommend a chrome shop in San Diego that is professional and fairly quick turn around time?
    Thanks.

I use Equality Plating in La Mesa...excellent work but you're not going to get next-day service.

I don't need next day but, a couple weeks would be good. How's the pricing? Reasonable? La Mesa's fairly close.
What about California Plating in National City? Anyone had work done?

  5. What are you looking to have done? If it's smaller stuff, and you're willing to send it to Central Cal., I may be able to help ya.

It's a grille I made for my truck. A bit big to ship but appreciate the offer.

I have never encountered a good chrome shop with a fast turn around.
    Especially in April.
If any chrome shop quoted me at less than 6 weeks at this time of year, I'd figure they've got no work.
It is peak chroming season, after all.

Pacific Plating on Jefferson st. (between Old Town and midway) did a good job on my nerf bars. I believe the actual plating is done in Mexico. Took a couple weeks and wasn't cheap. Good clear chrome, flawless, no clouds or ripples. Other HAMBers around here use them too.

Thanks. I'll check 'em out. That's fairly close to the blaster/powdercoaters.

  11. What he said. Also, be very wary of south-of-the-border platers.

Have used California Plating in the past and would never use them again. Had some stuff done that the chrome ended up peeling off of. Some other shops I talked to said they had not cleaned and prepped their tanks. Used to use Lemon Grove Plating. They always did good work but a nasty turn around time on your stuff. Now they're out of bus. Lately been using Escondido Plating and they have really come through. Super nice work and they are down the street:D

We have used http://chromeguy.com/ at the shop. He advertises all over Hemmings. He is near LA, and offers a warranty and 10 day turnaround, and his prices are pretty reasonable. Nice guy to talk to on the phone, too.

you don't want to be going to tj any time soon, not with the drug cartel and the federal army shooting at each other. plus the kidnapping and hiway robbers .

Does that mean you only get hit with one or two bullets and not 10? :D

Chroming a bumper isn't going to "reasonable" and good chroming isn't going to be fast.
Ignore the fact that you didn't quite plan this out, get some estimates from good quality chromers and expect that it might be more and longer than you think.
