I would like to find the official timing records for my late father's 1930 Hupmobile that ran several times at Bonneville, including in 1937, the same year as Ab Jenkin's famous 24-hour endurance run.

Where can I find records from this era, if they exist? Should I contact the Southern California Timing ***ociation or does this predate their involvement at Bonneville?

Here are pics of the car at the salt flats:

I seem to remember reading that a lot of salt history is stored in the library of a college in Salt Lake.... but the rest escapes me. Have you posted over on landracing.com yet? Lots of salt historians over there.

I have created a post there:

What other details would be useful to help me find these records?

I've also posted here regarding Bill Kenz having worked on the car. I'm working on getting a copy of a journal or notebook that Kenz kept on timing--engine timing, not landspeed timing--that includes the Hupmobile.

If anyone knows of other resources on Bill Kenz, please let me know.

The SCTA will have nothing it organized in 1937. Records of past performances are kept buy private parties just because they scoured the weeds for result sheets. Contact Jim Miller of the Society of Automotive Historians, he has gathered the most info on the dry lakes and Bonneville. Remember the SCTA didn't come to Bonneville until 1949 and Bill Kenz was there.
