Retro Sound brand radio would suit my needs having an old look with a usb input for thumb drive, compact and adjustable mounting..Did a search and only came up with couple cons..So can I get some present day opinions/experience as far as quality, performance, etc?
we put a vintage sound repop in my mom's 58 impala. Looks like the original wonderbar radio and works awesome. Even has blue tooth to answer calls. Powers two 6x9s and 2 4.5 inch sounds awesome.
Have one in my 60 Chevy Sedan Delivery, works great .. blue tooth... bought the dual cone dash speaker they sell for my car... Just wanted simple tunes nothing ground shaking really happy... only strike I could give would be faux station tuner strip they supply for the screen..
I have an AM/FM radio c***ette with separate CD stacker in all my cars including my DD. To get around not having a USB or Bluetooth I use an I-Simple I just load it into c***ette player and plug into phone.
Just confirming…is something wrong with your faux tuner strip or u just don't like it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Haven't gotten reviews yet but I installed a couple in customer's cars. I do like how they are made and the flexibility in mounting/ adapting to early dashes. Hope they work ok since I'm done with that Custom Autosound ****.
I put one in an OT Italian car, it works well and I like the Bluetooth and USB. They sell a USB/Audio jack that looks like a Cigarette lighter if you need to camoflauge it.
Custom Auto Sound is a waste of money. Poor sound quality. In this day and age why permanently install anything? Use your I-phone and a bluetooth wireless speaker. The sound quality is 1000 percent better. Gary
Searched some more and found Ryan's: from 2011.. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/hidden-tunes-via-an-ipod.548824/
OK, a few years ago was a little longer than I would have guessed,i have a memory like a steel trap, sadly it's already tripped. HRP
I had a Custom Auto Sound radio in my 46 coupe 20 years ago that left much to be desired. However it was the best option for my 40 coupe so I have the Secret Audio unit in it. It has been in there probably 10 years and performs well with no problems. Everything is in the trunk except the remote controller. I like it so well that I have one for my 55 Sunliner.
Thanks to all for the input..I have ordered a RetroSound Hermosa and some accessorys; had to get the blue tooth in order to get the usb port [$100]...The usb port extension is 53" and I only need about 12"..
Think I can shorten the USB port cable with out turning it into a piece of ****? Maybe just find a short one some wheres would be easier. Any one want to trade? I also have cable with a usb port mount [from Reto Sound], still to long..Any interest let me know..
Could not find with male/female ends or male/male [to use with female/female connector] in usb "c"..1.5' long would be ok but couldn't seem to come up with a combo that would end up at male/female ends.
seb, I was wondering how your purchase turned out. I've been looking for something for my 50 and thought I might try the Retro Sound.
I did a Tech Thread here about a month ago for my '57 https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...th-sound-system-install-non-invasive.1155455/ Since then, I will add to this thread [we've built a door open relay, so we can listen to music with the key off]
