I bombed down to Bakersfield and back today to pick up my motor from the Chevy 6 guru. He left it on the run-in stand so I could hear it. Damn, it sounded GOOD! They were supposed to paint it, but I guess I get to tear it down and do it myself. That's fine by me.

Anyway, just being a nerd and being stoked. It's nice to see something progressing, I need the inspiration!

I was thnking about that on the way home. I'm not going for the "rusty pile" look. How best do I keep it from rusting?

The body is going to be dark burgundy and the wheels and firewall will be ivory. I gave them really dark gold. I have copper, but I'm not sure how it'd look with the other colors.

  9. either high temp clear or high temp cast iron grey.

No one does copper with burgundy, but I think it will look great and it will stand out. My 2¢.

Paint it clear, or Ivory... I don't know if you could get high-temp clear, but that'd be my first choice...

I agree. The mill looks sweet "au naturale".
There's this stuff tha Speedway sells to dress manifolds, it allows you to retain the raw cast iron appearance without rusting etc. I've never used it but it sound interesting.

Hey! That looks like an engine! A nice one, too...
I was already thinking of a gray engine block, so everybody will know you were just trying to be more like me - but if that works for you, have at it!

Remember, give me a call if'n you need some extra wrench-power...
