Having been the caretaker of what I term a survivor rod from the mid 60's since 1972,I need to weigh in. I fell in love with this car as an 11 year old kid , seeing it pull a wicked 2nd gear down shift and a squirrelly punch it ; up main in our small town. When I drive her I get the same feeling I got when I 1st saw her , and beat on her as a 16 year old. Over the years , I have replaced (1976) the rotted plywood floors with steel, replaced (1979)my blown up 301"with a '60 block 292" using the original stagger heads and removed but saved (1983) her cutdown Terraplane front fenders. Over the years I could have sold her to many different restorers, street rodders, billet dudes , pro street or pro mod guys. She is an unknown history car...I gave up trying to track it a couple years ago. My point to all this is, after 45 years of people either saying she's ugly or "when" are you going to redo it", I would not change a thing. Nothing like reliving your own history! Guess I ought to pull that varnished up gas tank and rebuild the AFB... so I can get that teenage feeling , again. Have fun...haul ass!
