Done a few searches and am not finding what I need, maybe you 32-34 owners could help me out. Am looking for interior measurements for a 32 coupe and roadster vs 33/34 coupe and roadster. Would any of you owners grab a tape measure and get me 4 side to side interior width measurements; foot area, leading edge of seat, hip position, shoulder width. Am in the market for a 32-24 and would like to see some real world measurements. Test sat a 'gl*** 32, seemed a bit tight for my size
You mentioned a gl*** 32 so I thought I would throw this in the ring. I am not a small guy, medium by todays US standards..6'2", 250. I like being comfy in my cars and I wanted a chopped roadster so I did some searching and ended up buying a Speed 33 body. Mark Trostle owns the company (Dearborn Deuce), Detroit built, American made steel. http://www.americanspeedcompany.com/ This is from their Q&A Damn thing is expensive but I bit the bullet and so far I'm glad I did. Something to consider. I used a Wise Guy bench, have 3 pedals on the floor and with the top up I have a several inches of headroom. Oh and the doors are wider so getting in and out with suicide doors doesn't require a trip to Jenny Craig.
<<< '32 Gibbons tudor 36 1/4" Toe board 42 3/4" Front of seat 47 1/4" Hips 51 3/4" Shoulder area right behind the door post Seats are out of a 90's Cavalier or Sunbird and I'm not that big (5'10" @ 165, but sometimes it is a little close if someone about 6' 200+ rides with me. I don't know if a coupe is the same width or not.
A 32 5w coupe is the same measurements but a 32 3w is a 1 1/2 wider at the shoulders. The 33 34 roadster is the same width but 5 inches longer for leg room. I'm 6'3 260 and with original seating fit fine in all three. The 33-34 roadster Pheaton has the most leg room and a tad wider then the 32 5w. I would expect the 34 5w to be the same as the roadster Pheaton. Just like any car or truck seating is Very important and the kind of seat you choose makes all the difference.
Be careful test sitting in cars. Some people fill them with way more furniture than necessary and use up all the room. (Some people are also short and set them up to suit themselves) Some people are also not very good at setting up pedal/steering wheel ergonomics which can make you think there is no room as well. Both have plenty of room to work with when starting with an empty space. Model 40's have a little more than 18's.
I'm 6'5" 270 and have all the room in my 34 roadster. I took the package tray out and moved the stock seat back. Its a great car for long trips
I have a Downs 32 roadster, I am 6' 3" 235 pounds, when I got the roadster it had a Chrysler minivan middle seat. It was very uncomfortable, no room and sat way to high and could not drive for any distances, I got a Glide seat without sliders so I was low in the seat and had the seat all the way back with the seat back under the back lip and not a lot of padding added to the seat back. Now I have all the room I need to be comfortable and its even easier getting in and out, (a side note) I had to go with the 31 roadster seat because the 32 bottom seat back width would not fit. hope this helps
I am 70 years young; have a Henry 32 cabriolet hiboy. Being 6' 1"" and 225 lbs, the stock seats are NOT in their metal skeletal framework as it cuts down on the legroom and is pretty tight for leg mobility. Behind the seat is an area that the top sits into when it is not up, but get rid of that area and the car takes in a "gutted' look.
Be careful with 32 5window coupes. I first bought mine in 1974 when I was 5'8 140 pounds. There was plenty of room in it and my three kids(kinda). Now that I am older, still 5'8 and 192 pounds, the darned car has shrunk! Just when I needed more room, the car got smaller. You just can't trust them...
Here's what my 34, 5 window [avatar] measures out to: Foot area..36" at kick panels [if it had kick panels] front seat....39" Hip area.....46" at B pillar, 10 inches up from floor shoulder....49.5" measured 4" behind B pillar.
