Hot Rods I guess there is just no cure.....

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 56don, Sep 8, 2017.

  1. Well, Yesterday I sold one of my cars because I convinced myself that I had too many and that I would never get around to doing anything to it. Satisfied that my downsizing the fleet was a good thing, I came home and relaxed confident that the money I received would be put to a better use.
So....what did I do last night and this morning? Well I found myself searching the internet on Ebay, Craigslist and here for cars. What is wrong with me? I couldn't even last a day before wanting something else to sit around waiting to be modified.
I guess there is just no cure.
But I know I am not alone.

I search for cars every single day! I have no place to put them. No extra money to buy them, but that doesn't stop me from looking for some reason. I guess just knowing whats out there and where the prices are at is enough. Plus, I sort of look at them as other people are just holding them for me until I decide to buy and I don't have to worry about storing them! :D

I bring home stuff that I know that I don't need telling myself that I'm keeping it from being melted down.
I need to thin the herd and would if I knew someone was going to make something of it instead of flipping it. That bothers me and I'm not sure why.

CAUTION ! Through these doors (garage doors) lies a sickness/addiction/obsession that there is no known cure. No such thing as too many cars, just not enough garage space. I've been thinning my hobby car deal for years and now I have more than I ever had, going to look at one tomorrow. My wife thinks it's from my racing day's, hit my head one too many times. LOL

Every time I say, I'm chock full something cheap and desirable follows me home.

I had to cut down a fence so I could stash the last one. I guess I needed a gate there.

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

The second step is buying another car!

Projects in the yard can be tough. That did help get rid of a jerk neighbor:):).The only guy in 30 years that gave everyone crap. I needed to down size and prioritize because my 47 Olds has been sitting since 89. My sons truck is at the glass shop today and will be road worthy very soon. As soon as that happens, the Olds makes the floor space swap and the fun begins. I bet though I will still look and ponder buying something........ nope, Have strength my boy!!!

Three times in five years I've said I'd buy a new old car and sell something. Managed to do the buying but haven't gotten around to selling anything.

    They're just accumulating.

Someone asked me recently if I still have my mustang from high school.
I think so but haven't visited it in a few years.

I have the same problem, cept it also includes classic firearms. Hell it includes most firearms & reloading supplies. That's one reason I can't seem to complete a car project. :(

I don't have any projects I want to cull but I sure need to strip and get rid of the donor rigs. The suspension and transmission donor for the 48 needs to have those pieces stripped and the rest turned into a trailer to sell and hauled or scrap. The little daily driver beater that I got rear ended in last September needs the engine and a few more pieces pulled and the hulk hauled off to scrap.
That doesn't mean that after the shop is built and some progress is made on the ongoing projects Hamb Friendly and not that "that" certain long desired project rig might not get drug or driven home.

  29. I bought a 57 Lloyd [Made by Borgward...German] for $500...had it shipped to me from Michigan for another $500. I built a privacy fence[$250] to hide it from my neighbors and the city. Ten years later I came to the realization the car had rusted so badly it was now junk...sold it for $250.
All this almost made me stop buying cars until my brother put his G-body wagon up for sale and I flew out to Oregon, bought it. Well, at least this one runs. lloydontrailer.jpg
