I've been wracking my brain for three days now...I pulled my heap (flathead, T5, 8") out of the garage and this was laying on the ground under it. If it goes to it I'm totally stumped. It could have gotten kicked under there...not oily, about an inch and half long. Some kind of pawl? From a tool? Floor jack? Could swear I've seen it before. Grrr. 0908170950.jpg

The circle N marking looks like the Nichols "Fanner 50" cap gun trademark .

Looks like a park pawl from an auto trans.

A parking pawl from a Ford C3/A4LD auto trans. C3 was a light duty three speed unit, A4LD was a four speed OD version of the trans.

Incredible! I recently s****ped an auto trans and transfer case (that were split apart) out of a '92 Ford Explorer I had sitting around. The pawl must have fallen out and gotten kicked under my hot rod. I would have never guessed in 100 years! The power of the HAMB! Thank you, I can sleep tonight. You want it? :)

If I were in the south, this would have been my "pawl pawl"
