'55 caddy trans problems

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by youngster_'52, Apr 19, 2006.

  1. I need some help on my buddys automatic transmission. He told me if he drives it for a short distance than there ain't any problems but when you keep drive it, she starts to leak and shift really rough. He though it might be overheating and tried to get a trans cooler but he couldn’t really find anything. What could be the reason for overheating? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

we have a "search" function here,if you look up some of my old posts i describe the adjustments for hydra-matics.
it is VERY VERY VERY important to adjust the bands AND the kickdown linkage!!!
if you need service manual stuff i can scan some and send it to you.
BTW there is no way to install a cooler on these, unless you have a commercial car (hearse or ambulance) which sometimes had a cooler installed.
    very rare.
