Located in North Attleborough, Mass. Closed in 1979, It was located on US Rt. 1 the main North/South road in its day for the East coast. The opening of Interstate 95 in the late 60's was the death knell for a lot of local business's that were bypassed.

The Glass Slipper. Anyone that was into cars in the late 50's and early 60's has at least heard of it. It was featured in the major car magazines of the day. It was equally at home at a car show (as shown here) or on the dragstrip. I got to see it run several times at Vacaville back in the early 60's. Beautiful workmanship, and FAST for it's time.

The legendary Pop Dreyer in his shop. The guy did everything himself. He had his own little foundry where he cast his engine blocks and heads and designed everything on his own. In fact, he built his own bodies and just about everything else on his front running cars. In his younger days he was a top motorcycle racer for Indian racing with riders like Ralph Hepburn and even publisher Floyd Clymer. I'm not quite sure when he switched to four wheeled vehicles but he and Myron Stevens were the main constructors of Frank Lockhart's LSR Stutz Blackhawk that he crashed on Daytona Beach. And the shop in the photo was right behind his house where he and his family lived on the old National Road (US 40) on the west side of Indianapolis. Today his family still operates the oldest Honda motorcycle dealership in the United States at the same location.

Don't know if these have been Posted before .. These photographs were taken by Bill Hewitt in Bob Herda's driveway ... supposedly in 1955 (i.e., contrary to the "1953" tag on the CALIFORNIA license plate). 1_o.jpg 2_o.jpg 3_o.jpg 4_o.jpg
