Hot Rods 36 ford, mounting fuel tank without the mounting bolt springs

    So I understand that originally the need to mount the fuel tank in a way that ch***is twist and flex would not fracture the fuel tank , hence the bolt with the spring.
    My question is it still necessary with the much improved roads and is anyone just running bolts without the spring?

    That is probably more a function of the frame. Original
    Frame or aftermarket? The original would flex more than the aftermarket. Actually, I have seen that spring bolt for the radiator but not for the gas tank but maybe I wasn't looking.

    Given that you must lift or remove the body if I recall correctly to remove the tank, I would not run the chance of having an issue IMHO (based on my experience with a 37 sedan)

    Stock style tank can be removed without lifting the body. My not run the spring?

    Why would you not want to run the spring? In a hurry to put in the tank and don't have the springs? Why risk it, order the spring.

    yep ,I don't have the spring ,have to order one.
