Anyone know of a space-saver spare that will fit early Ford pattern? In decluttering my '34 (w/hydraulic conversion), I've eliminated the cowl-mounted spare & don't care for the ones mounted on the back either. I was hoping to scrounge up a space saver that might fit behind/under the back seat of the Sedan...

    TIA

  2. I can't think of one. Seems like 5 on 5.5 went out as small spares were coming in. You may have to machine up an adapter.

might try some of those little micro SUV things, like a geo tracker...

  4. According to this Bolt Pattern reference guide I got saved:
    http://www.mrt-wheels.com/boltpatternref.html
The only thing that might come close to something smaller in the old Ford pattern (5 x 5 1/2") that MIGHT have a space saver spare is the '86 - 89 Suzuki Samaris. But since their a 4 wheel drive... I dunno if they mighta went with a small spare. Not like they had the room for anything larger.

Another option is to go hit the wrecking yard and get yourself a spacesaver out of an import. And like adjustablejohnsons suggested... get a hold of someone that can knock you out a single wheel adapter (like Fred Goeske at www.wheeladapters.com ) and just throw it in with your space saver spare.

    Just a thought...

I think a geo tracker is a suzuki samurai with a different name on it.

Yeah - about what I figured. For some reason, I thought maybe Nissan Pajero might have 5x5.5, but can't confirm...

Just hafta keep my eyes peeled or have an adapter whittled up...

Ernie i worked for Suzuki around those years & saw the introduction of the Samurai, i never saw any space saver.........but they might have used one since then i couldn't tell ya.
I think i'd be making one after all its only a get you home deal, a space saver from a junk yard would be easy to come by & pop the center in you need.
Might even think about that for mine.......but its not like i'm short on space!
    ;-)

Ernie, how about cutting out a 5-5 1/2 center from an old ford truck (they were 5-5 1/2 even into the late 80's) and then do the same on any space saver wheel and weld in the right one. It's a bit of work to get it all centered up but does solve your problem. MIKE.

Just carry a '40 ford wheel with a motorcycle tire on it. 16x4" wide, vintage, and it fits the 5.5 pattern. Now on to my morning coffee. ;)
