Just spent 15 min. puttin my thoughts together and 2 fingerin those thoughts and when I hit the submit new thread,, it went nowhere and I lost all I typed....... I go all over the internet and it seems this only happens on the hamb.... Is it me,,or my computer,,, Or what???????........ I,m frustrated and PISSED besides......... MY RANT DAN.... hope it works this time or I,m going to bed
never happens to me on the hamb... but if you want to save what you typed, then open Notepad or Wordpad or whatever you use for word processing, and type it in there, then when you're done typing, copy it and paste into the hamb window. then if the hamb loses it you still have it in the other program.
Squirrels advice is good stuff. I type extended posts in my word processing program and save it as I go. Then do the copy and paste to the HAMB. If you're typing directly to the HAMB it works well to hit select all (CTRL & A) then hit (CTRL & C) which will copy the message to your clipboard. Return the screen to non-black letters by hitting the top or bottom arrow. The cursor ends up at top or bottom and the letters are normal black with white background. Do it several times as you go and if it gets knocked off or lost you'll have it saved to clipboard and can get it back by hitting paste (CTRL & V). The above has saved me many times. It's not only the HAMB where things disappear, happens to other sites as well. More than likely it's not the site's fault, what seems to happen is if you put light pressure on the space bar and one of the lower row of keys it erases the screen. Probably a macro of some sort, but it doesn't really help much.
I like AOL. They send me new coffee mug coasters in the mail for free all the time. Then I use the old coffee stained ones for indoor frisbee golf. I'm backing Squirrel and C9, cept I don't even bother with the word program, I just type it up in a more convenient, already on new Email and copy and paste it then delete the Email afte I know it got posted.
trust Ryan and the AOL, I used to have Aol and dial up, and typed with one finger, forced myself to use a second finger (man I'm like lightening now 6-8 words a minute haha) anyway what I found that while typing if you move your mouse around the screen every few minutes it lets your computer know that it's not an idle screen. I got rid of AOL for alot of reasons Mostly because AMERICA on line doesn't have any americans to help with all the problems I had with them. its no different with my present carrier I'm sure but I never seem to have daily or weekly problems
