Pops recently bought this cool Olds to make it easier and more comfortable for my older sister to go places with them. A little background may be in order. You see, my sister Kim is blind and handicapped and my parents still care for her at home. Sometimes a sitter is avail., but most times they need to take her along to cruise nights, shows, etc. She enjoys going but getting in and out of a 2 dr. is getting more difficult. So, we sold dad's '55 Bel Air and have been looking for a cool wagon or 4dr. car. He's got the '52 Olds DSC02704.JPG DSC02705.JPG DSC02706.JPG DSC02707.JPG DSC02708.JPG DSC02710.JPG DSC02713.JPG DSC02715.JPG DSC02715.JPG DSC02717.JPG DSC02722.JPG DSC02724.JPG convert, but always liked the '56. Due to style and looks, it had to be a 4 dr. hdtp. Finally found this one, only 10 miles away. Purchased from the org. owner's family, it is a super nice example. Here's some pics you might enjoy seeing.

Great car. I sold my 56 98 coupe 18 months ago, very similar colours to yours.
I see it has the Jetaway trans. Most guys rubbish them but I found it was fine to drive.

Dad will be 80 this year and still going strong.... no doubt it has to do with loving and working on old cars! Found a real nice 98, but wouldn't fit in the garage.

Over the years, it has had some cosmetic restoration. I actually found it on craigslist. I don't think anyone went to look at it. Drives/rides nice and Kimmy likes it!

    That car is gorgeous!

  16. Yes, the car is nice but the thing I take from this thread is how the family is taking care of the handicapped sister. I will join Bobwop in commending this family.

Mom and dad refuse to put her in a home and recently moved to house that is right behind mine, so that I and my family can help as they and she gets older. She'll be 57 this year, and if there's a heaven, my parents are going for sure!

In the 70's we would all, family of 6, cram into our '34 sedan or my avatar. Told dad we needed this car when we were all kids. It sat too high in the rear, so the day after he got it, I made some lowering blocks and we put'em in...world of difference. His plans are to put some wider rims on it, fix some small items, and put his '56 spinners on it. Maybe put a 2x4 or 3x2 setup on it.

Did someone turn back the clock? That is a beautiful time warp car. Many thanks to you and your parents for doing such a wonderful job with your sister. You will all be blessed.

  22. My family was living in Michigan in the 50's, and my aunt, who lived in Torrance, visited us each summer in her NEW Olds. It was always a hardtop, usually a 2-door, and always with all the bells and whistles. Aunt Jean had a lot of style! :)

A real beauty of an Olds, and a very inspiring story. How about a picture to show off the 52!

I drooled over the very same model, for sale at a gas station when I was a kid, but Mom said NO! Loved them ever since. Nice cars in that collection, and hurray for the try-nine Impala too...

  26. I hate to tell you that the 55 is my favourite car for styling, but the 55 and 56 Olds are near the top of my all time favourites list.
