47 Ford, as of late, I now need to practically stand on the brake pedal before my tail lights will glow. Is the switch ready to retire or does anyone have a tip or two cents? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Buddy's '33 coupe has '39 tail lights... hardly see them... he switched to a low pressure hydrolic brake light switch... much better... bought one for my '30 coupe.
If you want to keep the hydraulic switch, buy one from a Harley dealer. Much better quality than the auto parts store versions. Harley used these on the rear brakes well into the 2000s (they may still use them, I haven't looked for a few years) and they are generally dead-nuts reliable.
If you are using silicon brake fluid you need a special switch, try Ron Francis Wire Works, https://www.ronfrancis.com, (800) 292-1940 They also make low pressure brake light switches but you shouldn't need one if everything else is OK and you are running a stock system. Charlie Stephens
I agree, the harley switches are the way to go. I don't know if they work any better but they will outlast the ones from the autoparts store for sure.
