I have a 46 Clipper with a 282 and one of my neighbors just gave me a head from a 327 thunder bolt. Will it fit? He also has a four barrel intake that goes with it. thanks
I love the Packard 8's ...but...I'm no expert. I know that 49-54 parts are pretty interchangeable. I don't know if the later heads will fit the older engine family. It seems like it would be easy enough to take a tape measure and check things out. You could also see if it has the same number of head bolts, etc. I have a good running 327 Thunderbolt 4brl that I'm building a roadster pick-up around. Bobby
I remember when Davenport Lumber Company here pulled a sawmill and planing mill with a late '30s vintage straight 8 Packard engine. All of the saws and planers powered by foot-wide leather belts running off an overhead jackshart. That old Packard pulled the whole mill, just sat there not even breathing hard.
Head gaskets are the same, difference in displacement is in the stroke. Might be worth further consideration,to lay eyes on the specific differences.
