They're pretty much worthless. I pay scrap value plus a dollar for them and any old speed parts you have, though. I make them into coffee tables.

They're cool, but get out your wallet. They make flathead V8s look downright affordable.

that's a great idea ruining a banger. that's what I'm putting in my new car its amazing how much damn money they cost and how much work they are to put together. i probably got in over my head and bought a riley head. and trying to get a pepco supercharger to add to the whopping 120hp butt more input or sites would help. or if you got parts that u want to sell or donate to a good cause (me) please p.m. me thanks.

how about some more info guys. What kind of tranny selections are adaptable to these early motors? Any open drive tranny? Are these suitable for highway speeds(65mph)?

you might enjoy this for starters:

  18. Donovan Engines is casting an aluminum A block with iron liners, insert bearings, 5 mains, counterbalanced crank, I and H beam rods, and high compression pistons. They also cast aluminum heads, timing covers, bellhousings, and manifolds that interchange with stock parts.
Twice the power, half the weight, and concours correct except for the magnet test! Just a bit pricey, but its only money....

Bloody fucking thanks guys. Just as I'm struggling to deal with the fact that after being so dead set for putting a an 8 in the rpu, then messing with 4 in it and realizing it: 1. is not in bad shape 2: would be different. These sites don't help my dilemma any.

    THANKS. :)
