my trunk on my 40 was kinda dusty and looking a little dingy . After removing the wood over the tool tray area and blowing everything out with the air hose I then shot the sides and wells with a fresh coat of paintable undercoating ( the kind that dries - doesn't stay tacky ) then I shot the floor with a coat of decent flat back paint . Looked pretty good I thought . Would leave trunk open when she was resting in the garage .everthing dried great .after several weeks checking out eBay for diff. Goodies I came across this generic trunk mat checked the measurement and thought I'll give it a try .think I paid $21.88 . As long as you don't mind the not period correct diamond plate pattern ( nubs up for me) .this I a great fix . Didn't trim anything till I centered it in the trunk with the back centered around the trunk latch catch . Once I centered that didn't take it back out till I was done. Got most of the what I'm calling the back edge tucked under the rubber trunk gasket . Cuts easy with a pair of regular scissors . You will see the back part closest to the back seat is a perfect width .so with mat centered and trimmed to hug trunk catch pic a line in the pattern that matches (meets ) back width and trim away . Take your time trimming along the back that will go under the trunk gasket . Only thing I didn't trim yet was for my spare but even that could be done in the trunk . I think it turned out pretty good looks nice and fresh . I bought the black but also have seen them in gray and tan but they are priced a little higher . My sedan has carpet but I also think someone could use one of these to partially cover the front floor from firwall to front seat . Many sources but here is the one I used .here are my pics 1 pic of the little bit you have to cut off .sorry guys if I post to many pics just trying to help someone else . Looks gray but it's black .
Thanks guys , was thinking I made to much of a trunk mat .but thought being a quick ,cheap fix was worth the post .
