Projects Anybody ever used '31 model A upper Stanchions on '32 Roadster?

I am trying to find an original Windshield frame and upper stanchions for my '32 Roadster but they are as rare as hens teeth so I heard from a few old timers that '30-'31 upper Stanchions are near identical and will work on a '32 Roadster.

When I search I have found plenty of info of using '32 Stanchions on '30-'31 Model As but nothing the other way around.

    Anyone done this before?

what dimensions do you need to compare... I have a pair of '30 deluxe let me know...
seems the '32 w/s frame will be wider than the A...
A rdstr w/s frames are much cheaper compared to a '32 rdstr... I have s****s if you need to widen a stock A...
A's are round... '32's are flat with radiused edges...

Unfortunately I don't have anything to compare to the model A ones because I haven't bought upper stanchions yet, I know the original 32 stanchions are rare as hens teeth and super expensive but I found some original model A ones with nice wear that if they work I can pick up for under a hundred bucks, just curious if any one can confirm they will work because they look very close.

If I were you I'd jump on those Model A stanchions for that price, they can probably be made to work and if not I'm sure you can re-sell them for more than that.

This is Model A uppers and windshield on a Deuce.

Too narrow and short on the windshield, although chopping the stanchions might fix the height.

There are some aesthetic differences, mirror location hole, flat pad, etc.

I don't have a picture with the Douche windshield on it.

The top mounting pins are also at a different angle as well but very close overall. The 30 31 had two different sizes deluxe and standard and deluxe are 2 inches shorter

    Good pic el scotto...
an A w/s frame with some 2" stints welded in top and bottom it looks to be workable...
not sure what '32 used as w/s stops...
make sure you have something that keeps it from tilting in and pinning your fingers between the w/s and steering wheel at speed...
maybe bolt some tabs between the upper stantion and the windwing brackets...
IMO... buy your upper stantions before you buy a w/s frame as there are standard and deluxe versions...
standard is over an inch taller... get your best deal on the stantions and then find a frame to fit as you will be cutting and welding it anyway...

The 1932 ford roadster windsheild had a bead in the cowl to stop the windsheild from folding in on the drive .
Also the 32 windsheild is flat or square and model a is round.

Just use some repro 32 stanchions.....then sell a kidney "when" you find some real deuce stanchions that some 32 nut is letting go of.

This is what I'm doing. I got a screaming deal on a used stock height repro Deuce windshield, frame and stanchions on eBay so I'm going to use the repro stuff until original stuff appears. As much of a original parts purist I am you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes...

You can cut and weld stainless, so cut, weld, grind, sand and polish and you've got whatever height you want.

As noted above, the Deuce used a rectangular tube frame and the Model A a round tube. Most reproduction places sell both styles of windshield frame brackets so you can use a Deuce frame if that's what you come up with.

That is what I plan to do, run the re-pro stuff until I find originals since it is cheap and plentiful..........I was just curious about what I was told by those old timers, they may have been confused or I was and they meant you can use '32 Stanchions on a '31 Model A which has been done many times before????
