I'm wondering if there are any vehicles that used floor mounted pedals that I might be able use for more traditional looking pedals in my '46 Ford pickup. It currently uses a modern brake and throttle pedal mounted on the firewall, but I'd like to move the brakes back under the floor to clean up the firewall. I know I could go out and purchase new pedals, but every dollar counts and I like recycling old parts. So maybe a van or something that might have used floor mounted pedals? Other than maybe cl***ic VS, I can't think of anything to look for.
It has been many, many moons since there were floor mounted pedals that I am aware of. Maybe you could make your own if you have some fabrication skills. Just remember your brake pedal is a critical part of your safety! KK
Around here I pick up F-1 style pedal sets for under $50. They should bolt right in, and fit perfectly. Do you still have the original crossmember under there?
It's sitting on a 65-75 F100 frame (with twin I- beams) so I know nothing will bolt up. I don't mind a little fabrication.
I had the same ugly pedals so i welded a nut to the late model brake pedal, but first I cut the ugly one. screw in the ford f1 pedal and done.
If you want to use the old Ford pedal pads as Iwantaflattie suggested--a '52-'56 Ford car pedal ***embly fits '40-'47 Ford truck cabs like it was custom made for it.
This, plus while you've got the pedal on the bench you could round off the ends. What you have currently is flat bar with the corners knocked off. If those corners are properly rounded the appearance changes completely, less bulky, and takes on an older look. Just needs some careful sanding. Chris
