I had an interesting weekend....I Picked this up this weekend from a junkyard in for $975 CDN.

It's missing it's engine, the front seat and speedometer, but otherwise it's all there. It was last plated in 1993... It came LOADED with spare parts from at least 2 other '51 Buicks -

Lots of Prairie scenery on the way -

After a 6 hour drive (and some help from a bobcat to get it off), it's parked safe at a friends farm until I can get it into my backyard.

Poking through the glove box I found a few goodies; the pink slip and insurance going back to the 60's, a gas coupon for $1 off Shell gas, a few Texaco maintenance tags, a stub from an A&W drive-in and a B.A. window s****er.

It's got some extra cost options like a deluxe heater and a Buick Selectronic (wonderbar) radio, plus there's spare interior parts (radios, gauges, window cranks, armrests, panels, ect) from at least another 2 Buicks. There is rust on the rear driver's panel, but otherwise it's solid. I bought it as a 'just in case' parts car for my other '51 Roadmaster, but after getting it home and having a good look at it...well...I might just be looking for another '51 Roadmaster parts car to restore this one some day!

Yup, that's me. The repair is going well. I've got the dents mostly smoothed out and I am waiting on a daily driver hood ornament to come in the mail. The hood is still in primer so I haven't posted any pics in a while (aside from the article about Buick hinges), but I'll keep everyone posted as things develop! Turns out having the hood fly off was a blessing in disguise - no one got hurt, I fixed a problem I didn't know I had, I learned a new skill set and the search for a replacement hood landed me another Roadmaster. I LOVE THIS HOBBY!

No, it didn't threaten Saskatoon but the smoke did blot out the sky in the afternoon.

This one has more severe creases BUT it didn't bend the internal braces. Call me crazy, but I really enjoyed doing the body work on my hood. I snagged a used 9" grinder and I'm planning on picking up a shrinking disk just to see what the fuss is about. I'm actually looking forward to tackling it in the spring...

I have a friend who's grandmother owned a Buick identical to yours,It sat in his parents back yard all through high school and I talked to him recently and now that his parents have p***ed away he rent's the house,I ask about the old Buick and he told me it's still sitting where I remember it.

I have tried to get him to get it running for years but I would imagine it will turn to dust right where it sits. HRP

    '51,

Nice to see your new find has the late '51 new safety hood latch. I'll have to let my son know to keep an eye out for one. He has a '47 Super Sedanette 2dr.
