I'm heading out in 1/2 hour for the Larry Grillet auction in Childress this morning. Not looking to buy anything, but there sure is a LOT of stuff there I'd like to have.Parklane wagons, Crown Vics, Converts, etc. Even a Volvo and a few Mopars, but it's a good thing I'm too old for another project. Just going for the fun and it's gonna be a great cruise weekend for the '57.
I was thumbing thru a travel Texas magazine yesterday and saw an ad for a "depot days" Saturday in Gainsville, Tx (North of Dallas at the Oklahoma state line). I love that area (and the Casino), so after the auction in Childress I'm going to drive down there. It may/may not a good show, but I'm looking forward to it and the cruise. It should be about 6 or 7oo mile round trip unless I decide to keep going and do some of the lakes in that area (my avatar pic from last year). Haven't had enough cruising this year with projects around the new house.
I know some of the members here live in the area N of DFW, so if your there, stop by the Gainsville show.

Sounds like a fun trip. Just feels like cruising weather this time of year.

Maybe you will run across some Fords to share some pictures of.

I was on the road 12 hours before you posted that, but was happy to spot your car after parking across from it. It was great to get to shake hands, and enjoyed meeting your wife (Betty??) and friend Stan as well. Next time I'll know which side of the street to park on to keep out of the sun! I got back about 10:30, very high winds the last 100 miles or so. About 9:30, I had a head-on with the largest tumbleweed I've ever seen.had to be 5 ft in diameter!.....was taller than the car! It was probably going as fast as I was, just in the opposite direction. Surprisingly, no dents or scratches though.

Guys, I really enjoyed the show. Lots (211)of nice cars there, except too many late model, almost new, cars. The crowd was a pretty light as well, but other than that, good show, well organized. Ned's car looks as good in person as it does in his pics. I really liked his new interior. Not too many of our vintage Fords there. My favorite Ford won Best Ford overall. It's the '61 Starliner I'll post a pic of. Other than that, I took almost no pics.
Almost forgot, I was very happy that the judges saw fit to give my car an award..second place in "50-59 modified" cl***. Yahoo!

Damn! I’m from Gainesville and I always miss this show! I just cannot remember when it is, and I don’t get a newspaper to help remind me. I would have liked to met you, and brought my car.
