I am looking for some help identifying the SW gauges in this dash.

    Thank you.

That dash is one of the most beautiful works of art ive ever seen. Please dont part that dash out...it would be the biggest sin. What are the gauges? Simply a ****load of the most valuable, desirable gauges there are to us hot rodders. The small ones are easily $200-$300 or more apiece....the bigger ones even more. They are all Stewart Warner, crescent needle, curved lens gauges..came in some year Auburns and probably others....also available aftermarket....but early, like the 40s and early 50s. Thanks for posting it...made my day..

That must have been some bad*** 35 or 36 Ford...the chrome...the aluminum switch panel underneath...so awesome. I love this ****.

I am not parting it out. Quite the opposite...I am putting it back in the car. It was my grandfather's. He built the car in the 40's and kept it ever since. I just took possession yesterday.

Way to go! Keep it together...it's as good as it gets. Keep us updated on the (re)installation of the dash. Just out of curiosity, are the capillary lines still attached to the temp gauges?

Wow, just found this thread. You have some extremely desirable gauges. This style is my favorite as you have the Front Mounts. All the gauges are "Long Tails" as well, which is pretty damn sweet.

As you have probably already figured out, they are 2 5/8". As stated above they are smooth bezel, curved gl***, crescent long tail needle, front mounts. Damn, you pretty much have the complete set minus the fuel pressure gauge. The "Gas" gauge you have is worth around $550 and the Temp gauge is worth $500 to $600 as well. It's crazy to think we can spend over $1,000 on 2 gauges...but we do. You have ONE HELL of a set of gauges. And to make it even better they were your grandfathers.

As HAMBer fleetside66 stated, check the capillary lines on the temp gauge to see if the gauge works and see if it's accurate. If the gauge doesn't work let us know, there are HAMBers that can fix it. (and it's damn well worth getting fixed!)

I see you have 2 temp gauges, is there a flathead under that hood?

Incredible score.....don't change a thing, that dash is perfect!

That 3 window is also perfection! Was it ever in magazine? Sometimes cars super deserving of print didnt get any play because of where the owner lived. If that car was in Los Angeles...it might have been a household name car to us in the "in crowd". It really helped to live near a major magazine...or at least go to a show where mag photographers went...

  12. And the car is a 3 window on top of all of that...nice, very nice indeed.

Thanks for the info on the gauges. I don't know what I don't know in the world of SW gauges.

Here are some pictures of the car from the early 50's.

I will share his story when time allows. He was an amazing craftsman. Here are current pictures, taken this morning, still wearing it's 40+ year old laquer paint. Also unchanged is the sleeping quarters. He was a big hunter and fisherman when he was young and this was his only car so he built the seat and trunk area to be used as a bed. The back of the seat folded up and the trunk was padded so he could stretch out and sleep in it.He was constantly changing things, so it needs a few things in order to be put back to it's 1951 self, but he never got rid of anything so it shouldn't be too hard. 20171026_084332.jpg 20171026_084323.jpg 20171026_084601.jpg 20171026_084251.jpg 20171026_084523.jpg 20171026_084434.jpg 20171026_084342.jpg 20171026_084531.jpg 20171026_084353.jpg 20171026_084241.jpg 20171026_084618.jpg 20171026_084638.jpg
